Our JAX Tyres & Auto Merrylands store is proudly owned and operated by John Van Hattem, who joined JAX in 2024.
Since its opening in 2023, JAX Merrylands has provided the local community with excellent service, and the dedicated team ensure every customer leaves with peace of mind driving.
John is thrilled to join the fast-paced automotive industry, where he says the friendly and helpful nature of everyone involved has been a highlight. His journey into ownership began with a positive customer service experience at his local JAX store, which inspired him to explore joining the network. After familiarising himself with the JAX model, meeting the store team, and connecting with a few fellow franchisees, John felt inspired and knew JAX was the perfect fit!
Outside work John enjoys spending time with his family, including his two kids, and embarking on outdoor adventures such as mountain biking and surfing. He values community involvement and dedicates time to volunteering for charities.

One can never expect such treatment from the Syed (Manager) & Blake. Today was hideous & extremely stressful. I started from one shop to another, trying to find a place to do my pink slip and service to reregister my car. After one shop to another, I started with optimism until reaching MyCar Castle Hill just to be disheartened by first the overwhelming prices, plus no availability. From 8am to nearly 1pm, I went to 5 or 6 places, letting each one know my predicament. Frustrated and upset, I drove back home dismayed as I only used my vehicle for a hospital run due to my chronic conditions. My last hope was either to drive to yagoona or try JAX as it is 1.1km from my home. I was met by Blake, who was so devoted to helping me with my situation. I forgot the boss's name. However, both went over and beyond to help me get my ride back on track. 💯 perfect score 👌 I am grateful for both and your team! It's amazing that there are still good souls, good-hearted people in this world, still. 💯 recommended 👌 This will be my regular place to service my vehicle, and I recommend it to all my friends and our communities.

He confirmed Jax were offering me good prices and his records confirmed all the work being recommended was exactly what he would have expected considering the KMs I'd done since my last service. Fitted me in for a puncture repair at short notice. Great service and advice about the use of tyre mobility kits (My car does not have a spare tyre). Will be happy to use them again in the future. Tip for first time users of the tyre mobility kits. They work but don't use them unless you have to, and if you do make sure you tell the people doing a permanent repair what you have done before they try to repair it. What I was unaware off is that while the liquid pumped into the tyre to seal off the puncture works there is a lot left in the tyre itself. When the tyre is removed from the wheel the liquid can can go all over the place creating a mess, if you are not aware that it's there.

My tyre burst not too far from this store. After getting a spare tyre put on by roadside assistance, I dropped in here to see if they could help me get a full set of tyres. Drove in this morning to ask about a tyre pressure warning on my dashboard. Was told they could fit me in the afternoon I came back so they could check the issue. The young boy told me how to check the correct PSi for my car, filled the tyres with the correct amount of air. The system error still showed up he then checked every tyre for any nails or punctures. My 2 children were with me at the time, there is a table and few chairs to wait which was very convenient. The Issue was fixed within 30minutes, I went up to the counter to pay for the tyre service they provided me with. However, they said it was all good. Thanks again for the great customer service it is really hard to find a place like this around.

Original Equipment tyre sizes shown in search results for particular vehicles are determined based on the best information currently available to us from vehicle manufacturers and from manual inspection of new vehicles as they are released. Many vehicles have optional trim levels/packages that include different tyre sizes. This Additional Model Info is listed for you to choose from in search results as well.
Since variations based on options or vehicle manufacturer changes may determine the Original Equipment tyre size on your vehicle, always verify the size you are purchasing matches the tyre size for your vehicle, usually found on the placard located inside the driver’s door, glove box or fuel cap, or in the Owner's Manual.
