UPTIS, the Puncture-proof Tyre Developed by Michelin,to Receive Three Prestigious Awards
This year, no less than three awards, among the most prestigious in the automotive industry will recognise UPTIS**, the puncture-proof tyre developed by Michelin
The GOLDEN STEERING WHEEL Award 2019 in Germany, the COYOTE Automobile Award 2020 in France, and the AVT ACES* Award 2020 in the USA, are three of the most prestigious awards that have recognised UPTIS**, the prototype puncture-proof tyre developed by Michelin this year. These prizes, awarded respectively by the German press group Auto Bild, the European community Coyote and the American magazine Autonomous Vehicle Technology, are among the most prestigious in the automotive industry today.
They rewarded Michelin UPTIS in the innovation and tyre of the year categories, highlighting its exceptional technological advances.
AN INNOVATIVE TECHNOLOGY THAT ELIMINATES ANY RISK OF PUNCTURES
Unveiled by Michelin last June, at the "Movin' On 2019" summit, dedicated to sustainable mobility, Michelin UPTIS, the airless tyre, represents a major innovation both in terms of safety and respect for the environment.
This prototype, with its innovative and revolutionary technology that eliminates any risk of punctures, offers considerable advantages. These help car drivers to feel more at ease, fleet owners and professional vehicle drivers to optimise their business productivity and everyone to considerably reduce their use of raw materials, which in turn reduces waste and promotes sustainable mobility.
NEARLY 10 YEARS OF RESEARCH RECOGNISED
These awards are the recognition of nearly ten years of research by Michelin teams. The UPTIS prototype has already been the subject of more than 50 patents related to the design of its structure and its high-tech materials. It fully illustrates Michelin's capacity for innovation to promote safer, more efficient, more accessible and environmentally friendly mobility.
