JAX Tyres Now David Reynold’s Personal Supercar Sponsor

JAX Tyres, one of Australia’s premium and most loved tyre retailers, have announced they will partner with Virgin Australian Supercars driver, David Reynolds, as a personal sponsor for the remainder of the Australian Supercars 2019 season.

This is an excellent boost for one of the most popular drivers on the circuit and will give JAX Tyres great exposure within Australian motorsport.

JAX Tyres first featured on Reynolds’ helmet at the ITM Auckland SuperSprint weekend, and will also be seen at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 event in mid October. Then will be alongside him through to the end of the season. The combination of the trusted JAX brand, and the enigmatic character of Reynolds, is a perfect match. Both parties are looking forward to a long lasting relationship.

Reynolds was a previous winner of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in 2017 when he and his co-driver, Luke Youlden, took a hard fought victory. He will be hoping to succeed again this year to repay JAX Tyres’ faith in him.

Bathurst is one of his favourite circuits, and indeed last year he was on target to make it two victories in a row at Bathurst when some very unfortunate circumstances pushed him further down the standings. This year he explained that he will be looking to conserve his energy better throughout the gruelling weekend. He is sure he won’t suffer the same issues as in 2018.

The Virgin Australia Supercars Championship (formerly the Australian Touring Car Championship) is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and is one of Australia’s biggest sporting championships. It will be a major historical milestone at the Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2019 when it lines up on the grid for the 1000th Supercars Championship/Australian Touring Car Championship (ATCC) race.

This series of 16 races, which now includes one race held in New Zealand, has been sponsored by Virgin Australia since 2016. It is one of the most anticipated race series around the world. Indeed, on a worldwide basis this is known as one of the toughest, and most thrilling, saloon car championships. The Championship, which dates back almost 60 years to the original Australian Touring Car Championship, recently introduced the new Gen2 regulations, which allows the teams more flexibility by choosing different body styles and engine capacities.

The series includes some of the best-known races in Australian Motor sport, including the Superloop Adelaide 500 and the Pirtek Enduro Cup, which goes to the highest points scorer from a combination of the Sandown 500, the Gold Coast 600 and the Bathurst 1000.

The current Supercars are lighter, more economical, and have increased agility. This has led to the whole series being far more competitive than the predecessor V8 Supercar Championship series. This has created much better and closer racing, and the Supercar Championship is now arguably the most exciting series in Australian motorsport.

In addition to the decades long rivalry between Holden and Ford, the enhanced racing has attracted other manufacturers such as Nissan, with their Altimas, to join the series.

There are now a total of 14 teams battling it out for the number one spot. In addition, for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 event, 2 wild card teams have been invited, the Kostecki Brothers Racing and the Walkinshaw Andretti United teams. The Bathurst weekend is always one of the highlights of the season and all of the teams are looking forward to some close racing.

David Reynolds’ number 9 Holden Commodore, from the Erebus team, has had a great and consistent season so far, with four podium finishes. He is currently sitting in sixth place in the series. This follows on from 2018 when Reynolds enjoyed a massively successful season in his third season with Erebus Motorsport. He amassed 9 podiums and 3 race wins, and ended up in 5th place overall.
