Summer tyre testing is in full swing, with German motoring publication Auto Zeitung the latest to publish results from its SUV test.
The publication tested nine 215/65 R16 H/V SUV tyres on a Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TSI which were evaluated for their performance on wet, dry and off-road surfaces and well as for comfort, noise and rolling resistance.
Auto Zeitung named the Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV tyre the eventual winner, stating it was well-balanced to a high standard, strong in almost all wet disciplines and also sure on dry road surfaces and also excelled in off-road braking.
The Goodyear rubber, along with second to fourth-placed tyres the ContiPremiumContact 5 SUV, Nokian Line SUV and Pirelli Scorpion Verde, was rated ‘highly recommended’.
The Dunlop Sport BluResponse gained as many points in the test as the Pirelli tyre, however missed out on the highly recommended rating due to its wet surface braking distance.
Finishing in sixth place was the Vredestein Sportrac 5, followed by the Firestone Destination HP, Falken ZIEX ZE914 and, in last place, the Cooper Zeon XSTa.
