DRIVERS RECEIVE REDUCED NOISE, SHORTER BRAKING DISTANCES AND A LOWER ROLLING RESISTANCE WITH BREAKTHROUGH GOODYEAR SUV TYRE.
The Goodyear EfficientGrip SUV tyre has received a coveted recommendation from consumer watchdog CHOICE in the 2012 CHOICE Small SUV TyresReview and Compare¹. The recommendation of the EfficientGrip SUV tyre also extends Goodyear Australia’s reign as the most “CHOICE Recommended” tyre company², highlighting the company’s commitment to safety and innovation.
CHOICE is the number one advocate of consumer rights in Australia and is an independent body that delivers expert, unbiased information to consumers across a range of goods and services. Its research and testing is conducted using rigorous scientific test methods.
The 2012 CHOICE Car Tyres Review and Compare studied 11 different 225/60R17 size SUV tyres from various manufacturers, costing between $214 and $339 per tyre. The tyres were tested and ranked across four performance categories: dry cornering, wet cornering, dry braking and wet braking.
Goodyear’s EfficientGrip SUV, a premium passenger tyre for Sports Utility Vehicles, performed exceptionally well across all four categories to earn its “CHOICE Recommended” status.
Goodyear product manager, Tony Kiernan, said: “The fact that the EfficientGrip SUV tyre ranked so highly overall is an excellent reflection of Goodyear’s commitment to innovative tyre technologies that deliver real benefits to consumers.
“The EfficientGrip SUV tyre delivers superior grip for added safety by incorporating a high number of biting edges and an optimized contact which significantly improves grip and control in all driving conditions.”
In addition, QuietTred Technology – an innovative feature of the EfficientGrip SUV tyre – utilises a combination of a noise-dampening tread design and a shock absorbing carcass to provide an exceptionally quiet ride without compromising grip and handling capabilities.
“We’re very proud to have continued our run of CHOICE recommendations across a number of various tyre models,” he said. “It reinforces what we already know to be true about our range of tyre’s exceptional performance.”
CHOICE’s overall score is made up of dry cornering (30%), wet cornering (30%), dry braking (20%) and wet braking (20%). For cornering, CHOICE testers assessed how well the tyres kept the car in the set lane at speeds of 85km/h and 80km/h in dry conditions, and of 80km/h and 75km/h in wet conditions, using a right-hand corner with about a 55m radius. Brake testing used a GPS system to measure the distance it takes to come to a complete standstill in an emergency situation, from driving speeds of 50km/h and 80km/h in both dry and wet conditions.
