- Dunlop Motorsport will supply approximately 15,000 tyres in 2013 to V8 Supercars
- Dunlop’s V8 Supercars Championship Series tyre size is a 280/680R18. 2013 is the first year using the 18 inch wheel and tyre combination
- Dunlop’s V8 Supercars Dunlop Series tyre size is a 280/680R17
- 2013 is Dunlop’s 12th consecutive year supplying the V8 Supercars Championship Series and V8 Supercars Dunlop Series control tyres
- Prior to the introduction of the 18 inch Sport Maxx tyre for the Car of the Future in 2013, a total of 116,672 of the 17 inch Dunlops had been provided to teams from 2002-2012
- Each Dunlop V8 Supercars tyre is hand-made in Nagoya, Japan
- Sport Maxx ‘Control’ is the name designated to the hard compound option control tyre
- Sport Maxx ‘Sprint’ is the name designated to the soft compound option control tyre. This tyre, as requested by V8 Supercars, has been designed by Dunlop to be significantly faster than the hard compound option ‘Control’ tyre (1.5 to 2 seconds per 60 second lap), but with a much shorter life span (approximately 80kms)
- Sport Maxx ‘Wet’ is the name designated to the wet weather, grooved option control tyre
- Specifically built for V8 Supercars, Dunlop’s control tyres have just 4mm of tread depth
- The tyres are designed and tested to:
– Be a steer tyre and a drive tyre
– Grip 15 different track surfaces
– Cope with track temperatures ranging between 5 degrees Celsius in Winton and 50 degrees Celsius in Darwin - Depending on each race, Dunlop supplies anywhere between 20 and 36 tyres per Championship Series car. Dunlop Series cars are supplied with 8 tyres per race
- The tyres were put through an extensive testing program by some of the sports top drivers
- Dunlop is the Bathurst 1000’s most winning tyre. It has 26 victories over the 50 years of the iconic race, more than all other tyre manufacturers combined.
