Bridgestone wins another Chinese design infringement case
Bridgestone Corporation has won another case in China in a design rights infringement case against tyre makers Shandong Huasheng Rubber Co., Ltd. (Huasheng) and Shandong Hongsheng Rubber Co., Ltd. (Hongsheng).
The Intellectual Property Court in Shanghai agreed with Bridgestone that tyres produced by Huasheng and Hongsheng had a tread pattern that closely resembled the Blizzak DM-V1 tyre made for SUVs by Bridgestone, and as such violated Bridgestone’s design rights. Bridgestone was awarded approximately RMB (US $130,000) by the court as damages from Huasheng and Hongsheng.
The lawsuit was filed against Huasheng and Hongsheng in January 2017, and although the court ruling was made in October 2019, Bridgestone has only now published the details of the verdict.
